The Division of Safety and Disaster Prevention conducts research and survey for structural stability of architectural cultural heritage and preparation of preventive maintenance system for cultural heritage against natural disasters such as flood and earthquake. The major fields of research are safety inspection, regular survey on architectural cultural heritage designated by government, analysis on safety data, study on the assessment standard for structural stability and preventive techniques against natural disasters. In addition, the urgent on-site inspection on situations of cultural heritage damaged by natural disasters such as earthquake is carried out. Through a variety of research related to safety and disaster prevention, it contributes to the stable maintenance of conservation for architectural cultural heritage and reduction of damage by natural disasters.
