The royal tombs of the Joseon Dynasty are comprehensive cultural assets through which it is possible to observe and understand many aspects of royal life and culture; the sites, stone and wooden works: methods of tomb construction; and funeral procedures, all of which were recorded in writing. This survey was carried out by interdisciplinary cooperation involving Korean and foreign experts in ancient records, architecture, art history, landscaping, and such like.
