Greetings

Welcome to our Website!

The National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage(NRICH) was established as a government agency with the aim of providing systematic activities for the research, excavation, preservation, and conservation of Korean cultural heritage. Since its establishment, the organization has been committed to, and responsible for comprehensive government-sponsored activities conducted for the survey, research, and development of Korean cultural heritage.

Currently, The NRICH consists of two departments (Administrative Division and Research and Planning and Coordination Division), seven divisions (Research Division of Archaeology, Research Division of Artistic Heritage, Research Division of Architectural Heritage, Conservation Science Division, Restoration Technology Division, Natural Heritage Team, and Safety and Disaster Prevention Division), one team(Digital Heritage Team) and seven regional branches (Gyeongju National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage, Buyeo National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage, Gaya National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage, Naju National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage, Jungwon National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage, Seoul National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Wanju National Research Institute Of Cultural Heritage) including the Cultural Heritage Conservation Science Center.

Together with its natural heritage, the cultural heritage of a community forms a crucial part of the wealth it relishes in relation to its history, art, knowledge, and landscape. Under the banner of "Culture, Power of the Nation," the Korean government has been dedicated to various activities and projects aimed at the preservation and productive use of Korean cultural heritage which are considered difficult for universities or private organizations to perform. As a responsible member of the Korean government, The NRICH has also been playing a key role in the efforts to share the rich cultural heritage of Korea with the rest of the world through various joint research studies with other institutions in Korea and overseas, promoting personnel exchanges with international organizations.

I hope you will continue to increase your understanding of Korean culture and give us your support, guidance, and encouragement so that we can grow further as a leading global institution and make greater contribution to the research, excavation, preservation, and conservation of Korean cultural heritage.

Thank you.
