Resources Survey in the Plant Area

This survey aims to identify patterns of changes in natural monuments (such as ancient, gigantic trees and forest areas, etc.) to offer systematic management measures.

Survey and Research in the Plant Area

Natural monument plants are designated in the following six categories as of February 2014: old trees (171); forests (24); village forests (23); rare plants (19); plant colonies (13), plant distribution limit areas (13).

The RDNH monitors “natural monument plants” for their sustainable conservation and management, and focuses on cultural and ecological surveys of ancient and gigantic trees, and on the analysis of the growth environment of forest resources. In addition to research on the proliferation of the offspring of trees designated as Natural Monuments, we conduct surveys on flora and vegetation on Dokdo Island Natural Reserve with a view to maintaining a healthy ecological system.
